Few places can a person exists out side of there house without being expected to purchase or pay for the space they occupy is a social construct I believe that has lead to the epidemic of antisocial socially inept sect of our population.... Ok and COVID lockdown has a part to play but the primary reason I’m saying gaming culture is sick isn’t exactly what the title would lead you to think it’s my first hand experience with people that are spending every waking moment at their monitor 18 hour shifts and even when getting up to eat or use bathroom they are walking and looking at their phone. People completely addicted to constant content consumption and it makes me absolutely sick TOUCH SOME FUCKING GRASS and take a shower you stupid fucks. Gaming culture is making us sick!
Don’t get me wrong I’m an avid gamer but not at the cost of my physical health or mental health. I love gaming but recent reflection of the state of gaming has turned me into a 98% retro gamer as the state of gaming and technology advancement has shown me I just can’t support the approaching future of gaming. And technology as a whole..
The current state of gaming is as follows!
- Corporate Colonization
Gaming has been hijacked by mega-corps who sell “immersion” while strip-mining creativity. AAA studios pump out sequels like factory meat, engineered for dopamine hits and microtransactions. The culture is sick because it’s no longer about play — it’s about profit extraction.
- Digital Addiction
Machines Games are designed as behavioral loops: grind, reward, grind again. Loot boxes, battle passes, and endless “content drops” mimic slot machines. The sickness is systemic — players are conditioned to crave the next skin, the next badge, the next meaningless digital trinket.
- Community Fragmentation
What began as underground LAN parties and modding scenes has been fractured into toxic echo chambers. Instead of DIY creativity, we get influencer-driven clout wars, harassment, and gatekeeping. Culture turned into spectacle, community into commodity.
- Surveillance Playgrounds
Platforms like Steam, Xbox Live, and PlayStation Network aren’t just hubs for play — they’re surveillance infrastructures. Every click, every purchase, every second logged is harvested. Gaming culture is sick because it’s a panopticon disguised as entertainment.
- Erosion of Subversion
Once, gaming was punk — glitch art, mod hacks, cracked ROMs. Now, it’s sanitized, monetized, and policed. The sickness is the loss of resistance: the underground has been paved over by glossy esports arenas and corporate “metaverses.”
- Toxic community
I would like to express the importance of this point as I feel it’s one that people really need to take note of. While exploring as I do I wondered into a few discord communities where only verbatim copies of like minded individuals are allowed an ideologic vacuum you could call it and basically is like indoctrination for the lonely people just seeking connection but the cost of their own ideals, Fuck that shit!
The Lo-Tek Diagnosis Gaming culture is sick because it has become a machine that consumes players instead of empowering them. It’s no longer about hacking the system, but being hacked by it.
“Rip the wires out. Mod the code. Reject the dopamine farm. Touch some fucking grass.”
I would like to invite people to a truly open community join the Lo-Teks clan a community for real people.
